Wow! I can hardly believe that a year has already gone by since setting up this site. Admittedly, I have not updated anything over the last two months due to work commitments, but over the coming weeks will return to update some new content. What I would really like to do is have a section of the website dedicated to giving good examples of writing for each genre.
You guys are still visiting the site, which is great considering my considerable absence. Anywhere between 200 and 800 visitors are coming here every day with some 700-1000 page visits daily as well. This really is a huge compliment to the site. Most of the forms filled out on the Home Page are from new users, but it would be great to see that some of you are returning on a regular basis as well.
The 'Film Narrative' page is doing particularly well, as are the Semi Colons and the Spellings Section.
Part of the reason for keeping this site free was that I knew I would not be able to give myself to these pages on a full time basis and provide a membership package worthy of your good money. So, in this second year of KeyStage2Literacy, the site and everything on it remain free for your use in class and at home. As always, please ask if there is anything you would like to see here in the coming months.
Well, yesterday was an incredible day that far surpassed any other day since setting up this site last May. I have been watching the website stats carefully to see what people are typing in to get to this site and to see which pages are the most popular. Early Morning Work has now been over taken by semi-colons and bossy verbs. I now feel like I need to find ways to improve these pages so that you are not disappointed when you visit here in the future. The page views have sky-rocketed since updating the Spellings and Reading Corner pages. I hope to continue updatng other areas such as 'The Piano,' 'Macbeth' and 'The Highwayman' as well as I know that these are key units of study. The site is now experiencing at least 300 unique visits a day. I shall continue to update the site from time to time. Keep checking back, and please comment if there is something I can provide on this site that you woud benefit from... Thank you...
As promised, I wanted to update when keystage2literacy.co.uk had reached 200+ hits. I first expected that to be in February, but the target has been reached with a week to spare. My original aim for setting up this website remains: to share a free resource with as many people connected with teaching the Key Stage 2 UK curriculum. Having taught the Year 4, 5 and 6 syllabus, I have been lucky enough to have explored many of the units of work set out in the original and revised frameworks. As I undertake another unit with my current class, I try to update these pages. Anyone involved in teaching will know how busy a job it is, so you will hopefully forgive me for not updating the Early Morning Work pages. I sense that more people would visit if this was worked on. I'll make it a New Year's Resolution. To all of you who visit on a regular occasion and those who spread the word, a massive thank you.
Having only set up this website earlier this year, I am incredibly pleased to announce that the site is receiving at least 100 unique visitors each day with up to 200 page visits a day. The punctuation area and the word wheels on the early morning week have been popular too. I shall try to update the early morning work activities again due to their popularity. The Google searches are becoming more varied but luckily, this site is still picking up viewers direct from these searches. I have personally been able to use this site for my own teaching, and staff at my school are slowly finding out about it too. I know that my own class won't really start coming here until there are a few games... but I cannot promise anything. I do know, however, that if they lose their spellings sheets, they can come here and find them. I hope to be back soon to declare 200 unique visits a day. Let's put a target time of February 2012...
Although receiving a respectable 40-50 hits each day, mrbirch.org was doing no justice to a website dedicated to key stage 2 literacy. The site has now arrived at the new home: 'keystage2literacy.co.uk' which you may have entered directly into a search or may have been redirected via 'mrbirch.org' which still exists.
It is hoped that with the change of website address, that more people will come here, experience what this site has to offer and hopefully spread the word. With increasing hits and enthusiasm for this site, the more ideas and resources that will be uploaded. Keep checking back!
Mr B :-)
It is important to me that this site becomes a useful and helpful tool to as many people as possible. There are a lot of teaching/ educational websites that charge for the use of their resources and ideas. However, you cannot put a financial price on the development of children. For this reason, please use this site as you wish and in doing so, all I ask is that you give me tips on how to improve these pages. If there are any topics or areas of the Literacy curriculum you would like covered, just leave a message and I will try and put something up ASAP. Thank you. Mr Birch. PS. I don't do homework...!
Hi there! I am Mr Birch, a full time primary school teacher and creator of 'keystage2literacy.co.uk...' This website is currently dedicated to Literacy in the curriculum and hosts a collection of ideas that I have used with classes in the early years of my career.
