Compound Words

Compound words are made when two words are joined to form a new word. It is important that the two words make sense on their own and that the new word makes sense as well. The two words must also be complete, for example, ‘ginormous’ is a combination of two words (gigantic and enormous) and is actually not a real word.
Examples of compound words and how they are
formed: hand + bag = handbag lady + bird = ladybird
Many of the compound words are also connectives:
how + ever = however be + cause = because never + the + less = nevertheless (three words)
