Homophones

There are literally hundreds of homophones in the English language and they can often be the reason why so many of us misspell words on a daily basis...even adults. So why are homophones so difficult? Homophone means ‘one sound.’ We have words in our language that sound the same but are spelt differently. Unfortunately this also means that there are no hard and fast rules about how we can learn to spell them. All we can do is learn the different spellings and remember when to use them.
