A Warm Welcome!
Welcome! 'keystage2literacy.co.uk...' is a webpage dedicated to all those hints and tips taught and learnt in the classroom, with a particular focus on Literacy and the Upper Key Stage 2 curriculum. This site is aimed at new and existing teachers who would like to brush up on their subject knowledge or find some new ideas for use in their classroom. This site is also ideal for parents to find out what their children are doing in class, and for children to explain to them. The process of learning should be one that is shared between a teacher, a parent and a child- this site hopes to deliver you a mutual ground upon which everyone can understand what is expected in the 21st century classroom.
'This is the first time I have visited your site and I have to say thank you- it's a great site, with some really useful ideas. I admire people like you who take the time to share your ideas and expertise. Good on you- and keep going! I will be using some of your early morning activities on Monday!'
RECOMMENDATION OF THE MONTH- February 2015
Are you up to speed with the most up to date documentation for Literacy in National Curriculum schools? In preparation for the introduction of National Curriculum 2014, a number of changes were made to the content of your child's lessons. The most current documents can be found on the UK Government website and are an important read if you have children being taught the UK National Curriculum or you are a teacher in these schools. If you were not aware that the curriculum had changed, please ensure that you do a quick bit of research on the internet by typing 'National Curriculum 2014' into Google- there will be a number of useful and helpful tools to ensure that you keep up with the increasing expectations of our pupils. A number of schools are currently piloting the new documentation and ensuring that new objectives are being taught. In a number of subjects, areas that used to be covered in one year group are now being taught in the year below. This has a huge impact on where our pupils are now expected to be. Please take the time to help your child or your classes to align yourself with these documents. Until next month, take care!
