What is...?
'What is...?' is the home page of the many abbreviations that teachers use with their classes. Many professions use abbreviations and initials to cut down on writing time and so that people who are not in the profession remain confused and baffled. Sometimes there is a reason why 'outsiders' must be kept in the dark, for example, for anonymity or the safety of those in their care. However, there are many sets of abbreviations that teachers openly share with their classes- these are the sort that help children to remember a key teaching point or to act as a checklist to make sure that everything has been covered.
There are currently five additional pages that make up the 'What is...?' profile:
- What is DUMTUMS?
- What is MAPOS?
- What are the 5Ws?
- What is FATPEG?
- What is WAGOLL?
The previously named, 'What is VCOP?' now has its own tab called VCOP Menu.
Please enjoy browsing through and feel free to use any of those ideas you do not currently employ in your own classroom. If you are a child seeing these abbreviations for the first time, how about suggesting them to your teacher?
